THE C&W AUTO CARE BLOG

A little care goes a long way.

Simple maintenance habits to help keep your vehicle safe, reliable and in good condition throughout the year.

EVERYDAY AUTO CARE

The basics that matter most

Your owner's manual is the best source for the exact intervals and specifications for your vehicle. These general checks help you notice problems early.

Tire inspection01 / TIRES · LLANTAS

Check your tires regularly

Check tire pressure when the tires are cold, using the pressure on the driver's door label. Inspect the tread and look for uneven wear, cuts or bulges. Rotate tires at the interval in your owner's manual.

Engine oil care02 / OIL · ACEITE

Stay on top of oil changes

Use the oil grade and change interval recommended by your vehicle manufacturer. Check the oil level as directed in the manual and address leaks promptly. An oil warning light calls for immediate attention.

Brake disc and caliper03 / BRAKES · FRENOS

Pay attention to your brakes

Squealing, grinding, vibration while braking or a soft pedal can signal a problem. Have the brakes inspected if you notice a change; do not wait for the next routine service.

Vehicle fluid reservoir04 / FLUIDS · LÍQUIDOS

Watch fluid levels and leaks

Follow your manual for coolant, brake fluid and other fluid checks. Look for new puddles under the car. Never open the cooling system while the engine is hot; have unexplained fluid loss checked.

Automotive battery05 / BATTERY · BATERÍA

Keep the battery dependable

Watch for slow starts, dim lights or corrosion around the terminals. A technician can test the battery and charging system, especially if starting has become less reliable.

Windshield and wipers06 / VISIBILITY · VISIBILIDAD

Keep a clear view

Replace wiper blades when they streak or skip. Keep the windshield washer reservoir filled and check headlights, brake lights and turn signals regularly.

Pleated air filter07 / FILTERS · FILTROS

Replace filters when needed

Inspect the engine air filter and cabin air filter according to your maintenance schedule. Dusty conditions may call for more frequent checks. A clean cabin filter can help airflow through the vents.

Dashboard warning indicator08 / WARNING SIGNS · SEÑALES

Respond to warning signs

New noises, unusual smells, a change in handling or a dashboard warning light deserve attention. Check the owner's manual for the light's meaning and arrange an inspection when needed.
